What is the Hype About Barefoot Training?

Barefoot training (training while wearing no shoes, or minimalist shoes) has become more popular recently, especially in the social media world. So What is it all about?

Here are three reasons why you should do it 1) Strengthen your feet: Our feet evolved to work bare. In the modern age we cram our feet into shoes that are too tight, and walk around all day on artificial surfaces. As a result, most people’s feet are weak and inflexible – which leads to all kinds of problems like bunions and plantar fasciitis. Barefoot training will strengthen your feet and help counteract the deleterious effects of unsatisfactory footwear. 2) Improve your balance: Our feet are packed full of various receptors and nerve endings that give our body feedback to keep us balanced and form a stable base. A life spent in shoes and socks reduces the efficacy of this process, thereby impairing our balance. Barefoot training will recalibrate your feet and improve your balance, which will help prevent a whole range of injuries. 3) Untapped athletic potential: Stronger feet and better balance will both contribute to improved athletic performance. Whether it is running, jumping, or any other sporting endeavour, having strong feet and great balance can lead to significant improvements. Barefoot training is the best way to tap into this athletic potential. DISCLAIMER: we aren't saying everyone should barefoot train all the time. Certainly if you play a sport that requires shoes, then you should train in those specific shoes too.
